FAAR-OUT
Exhibition Design
ADC Gallery, NYC
Exhibition: 2003
Curated by Linda Blumberg, Myrna Davis, and Sarah Hartman
This exhibition comprised 28 artists within a large gallery space. The space did not possess enough walls
to exhibit the work. Therefore, temporary exhibition surface was added by suspending a fabric volume
around each of the six columns in the center of the gallery. Each artist was given one side of the column
enclosure, the width of the side set by the amount of work. The resulting geometry of the enclosure and
the space of the exhibition was a direct consequence of the size of the artist's work. The volumes were
suspended, creating a datum line across the bottom of the exhibition. The diaphanous volumes could be
raised to allow the space to be used for other public functions.
